The Newest Example...

... of "Beclowning Oneself"  HAS to go to Piers Morgan after his Twitter exchange with Dana Loesch, and others. Here's my favorite:

Sorry. For exposing your lack of knowledge of guns.
He said that after incorrectly using the term "assault rifle"*, made up a caliber and invented the "AT-16"**

Not to mention Dana knows her shit.

This nancy boy really needs to keep talking, he represents everything wrong with the anti-gun movement.

* I've been concerned with the media swapping assault rifle with assault weapon, but this time it worked in our favor

** I don't usually ride people for obvious mis-types, but he did it first. Goose sauce, etc.

Thank You, David Gregory...

... for proving to the world that laws against ammunition magazines exceeding 10 rounds is one of the stupidest and most useless laws on the books. You shouldn't be arrested for having one on your show, in blatant violation of Washington DC's law against the possession of such things.

No one should.

Michael Moore is a Big Piece of Shit

Here's why (this time) - Michael Moore's New Years Resolutions:

 4. Stop saying, "I support the troops." I don't ... why would anyone sign up for this rogue organization?
Because they - aww, never mind. You wouldn't understand. You're so far removed from reality. you actually believe the crap you spout.

But, for comic relief, I'll point out number two:

2. Learn how to make dinner.
I don't think a lack of dinner is one of Magic thinking Mikes problems.

Game of Severed Presidential Heads?

So, now that "Game of Thrones" has been outed for including the severed head of GWB in their show, is Justice or the Secret Service going to look into this?

Not holding my breath.

Threats

Linoge informs us that Choke & Blunder is throwing up out threats:

Nobody is immune from being profiled, linked, reviewed, praised, or villified. You are next to be profiled on Smoke & Thunder

My first thought was "What's next, the Comfy Chair?"

OMG Sarah Palin is SO St00pid!

She's gone and done it again, made all those thoughtful progressives pee themselves.

See, in a recent news bit, she mentioned how Paul Revere warned the British that the Americans were preparing for war on his famous ride. Those learned liberals (as well as conservative Palin haters), whose whole frame of reference on the issue is a poem, jumped on it as yet another example of how st00pid she is*.

However, just like the Great Boston Tea Party Incident**, she was right. I wonder, does she do it on purpose? I would

Here's a round up of the hyperventilation.

* Of course, calling people st00pid is what they do. Even a Harvard MBA is st00pid if he doesn't think the way he should.

** I don't really put this on the same level, but close enough. Besides, it's the reaction that's fun to watch.

I really gotta get me another laptop. Lots of good stuff out there these days. Continue Reading

Going to the Royal Wedding?

No beer for you!

There won't be any beer. Let's face it, it isn't really an appropriate drink to be serving in the Queen's presence at such an occasion
This guy has a good bit to say about it:
In part this just shows up the royal family as the overprivileged and out of touch twits we already know them to be.  But it also shows up the populist impression of the relative worth of different drinks.  Despite all the progress we've accomplished in beer look more interesting, classy and worthy of serious gastronomic consideration, the mainstream image is still that it is boorish and not to be taken seriously.
This is more to the point:
£1 of every pint sold in the UK consists of duty and VAT, which goes to the public purse, which is in turn paying for the event, the contempt shown by the royals towards their subjects, their economy, and the icons and traditions of their kingdom, is sickening.
So, a beer drinker's money is fine for the royals, but the beer itself? Not so much.

Thanks to Lew for the pointer.

If the shooter

Titan Thoughts - Jeff Fisher Edition

Jeff Fisher has done more with less than any NFL coach in history. How many players have left the Titans to go on to successful careers? One. Derrick Mason.

Now, how many have gone on to be complete busts? THAT list is a long one: Haynesworth, Bennett, Brown, Volek....

I was halfway hoping Fisher would leave for a  team where the owner was willing to spend money. He'd be the next Lombardi.  Ok, maybe not Lombardi, but the next Jimmie Johnson? You betcha.

Another Case of "The Disconnect"

A fundamental difference in worldview:

no "creator" granted ANY right...rights are granted by governments...
Don't bother talking to this guy, he's beyond help.

What I would like is for y'all to read my stumbling attempt at explaining "rights" and see how I can improve. It's at the link.

Quote of the Day

I was laughing even before reading this:

So my Protip of the day is: If you’re running for office, it’s probably not a good idea to have an argument at a Second Amendment Rally with a guy behind the table for the state gun rights organization about gun laws.
It's like some people interpret the law according to how they think it should be, instead of what it is.

Compare

That was then, this is now:

You see, "Col Reb" was inappropriate, because he was a mean old plantation owner and slave trader, according to some people, so he had to go.

I always thought he was a southern stereotype caricature, but what do I know?

I hope KFC doesn't get caught up in this mess....

Changes to the Change

Remember this post, where McDonald's was possibly dropping its; health plan? Looks like they won't have to now:

McDonald's, 29 other firms get health care coverage waivers

Nearly a million workers won't get a consumer protection in the U.S. health reform law meant to cap insurance costs because the government exempted their employers.
 ...
Without waivers, companies would have had to provide a minimum of $750,000 in coverage next year, increasing to $1.25 million in 2012, $2 million in 2013 and unlimited in 2014.
 ....
"The big political issue here is the president promised no one would lose the coverage they've got," says Robert Laszewski, chief executive officer of consulting company Health Policy and Strategy Associates. "Here we are a month before the election, and these companies represent 1 million people who would lose the coverage they've got."
Wow, this is one major clusterfuck.

Hope! Change!

McDonald's May Drop Health Plan

McDonald's Corp. has warned federal regulators that it could drop its health insurance plan for nearly 30,000 hourly restaurant workers unless regulators waive a new requirement of the U.S. health overhaul.
Emphasis mine. So, how's that change workin' out for ya? Any hope left?

OK, This is Beyond Crazy

Vote early, vote often:

PORT CHESTER, N.Y. – Arthur Furano voted early — five days before Election Day. And he voted often, flipping the lever six times for his favorite candidate. Furano cast multiple votes on the instructions of a federal judge and the U.S. Department of Justice as part of a new election system crafted to help boost Hispanic representation.
You gotta be freakin' kidding me.

Obama's Crossed the Kerry Line

In England, at least:

His fondness for the EU is matched by his disdain for the United Kingdom. It’s not the diplomatic snubs that bother me: the dissing of Gordon Brown, the insulting gifts, the sending back of Winston Churchill’s bust. It’s not even the faux-anger towards the company he insists on calling “British” Petroleum. (No such firm has existed since the merger of BP and Amoco nine years ago. Thirty-nine per cent of BP shares are American-owned, and 40 per cent British-owned. The stricken rig in the Gulf is owned by Transocean, and the drilling was carried out by Halliburton, yet Obama isn’t demanding compensation from either of these American corporations.)

All these things are minor irritants compared to the way the Obama administration is backing Peronist Argentina’s claim to the Falkland Islands – or, as Obama’s people call them, “the Malvinas”. British troops were the only sizable contingent to support the US in Iraq and Afghanistan. We have fought alongside America in most of the conflicts of the past hundred years. Yet, when the chips are down, Obama lines up with Hugo Chávez and Daniel Ortega against us.
Un-freakin-believeable

(Dumb) Quote of the Day

This from commenter bright11 in this thread:

Yes, crime can happen anywhere, anytime. But it seems to me that many people misinterpret overall crime statistics and believe that they are in danger 24/7. I choose not be be burdened with that kind of mindset.
(comment 183, emphasis mine)

Words fail me, truly they do. One thing I've noticed about commenters, especially at the Commercial Squeal - any time their user name refers to intelligence or mental acuity, they usually have very little.
