If this is the first gun blog you read today (ha!), then you may not know that today is the birthday of the father of modern firearms, John Moses Browning.
He was granted his first patent in 1879 and never looked back. His firearms are still in use by the military today (we in America still use the M2 .50 caliber machine gun, patented in 1927), and his most popular pistol, the .45 caliber M1911, turns 98 years old on Valentine's Day.
The man was a true and enduring genius.
Happy birthday, JMB!
