A Marine in Iraq/Iran

Just got this from a friend:

Air Defense Radar: 'Unknown aircraft at (location unknown), you are in Iranian airspace. Identify yourself.'

Aircraft: 'This is a United States aircraft. I am in Iraqi airspace.'

Air Defense Radar: 'You are in Iranian airspace. If you do not depart our airspace we will launch interceptor aircraft!'

Aircraft: 'This is a United States Marine Corps FA-18 fighter. Send 'em up, I'll wait!'

Air Defense Radar: (no response ... total silence)
.

Moron?

As the father of a US Marine I can attest, with all certainty, that the aforementioned communication between Iranian Air Defense Radar and a Marine Corps FA-18 fighter was, in fact, funny.

This is Brother Rustmeister's blog, so I won't proceed with further comment, other than to say that I think you may be just a wee bit delicate and touchy on this.

Anonymous, would it have been funnier to you if the US pilot had abandoned his assigned airspace at the demand of another nation which had no justification for making threats?

Ha ha ha. That would have been just hilarious.

The proper response to a threat when you are outgunned is to disengage. The proper response to a threat when you are in a superior position, especially when your duty demands that you be there, is to say "come get some."

The funny thing is, I don't see any threats made by the pilot.

Maybe they were going to form a flying "peace" symbol and sing Kumbayaa or something.

You anonny-mouse folks sure have violent mindsets.
