They had some Tennessee rifles as well. The guy there told me most Kentucky/Tennessee rifles came from the same general area, from Sumner county in Tennessee north into Kentucky.
For some odd reason he seemed to think Kentucky rifles were better. =)

I've never heard of many long rifles being made in TN. The originals all came from PA. Later on they were mostly produced in VA and some in NC.
I'm sure you know that the term "KY rifle" didn't come about until after the war of 1812. It was from a song.
"But Jackson he was wide awake,
And was'nt scar'd at trifles,
For well he knew what aim we take
With our Kentucky rifles.
So he led us up to a Cyprus swamp,
The ground was low and mucky,
There stood John Bull in martial pomp,
And here was old Kentucky."
I don't know that the KY rifles were beter...just the shooters.
