Rule of Law City?

Not all of California is totally bat shit crazy - take Costa Mesa, for instance:

Costa Mesa declares itself a 'rule of law' community

The Costa Mesa City Council has voted unanimously to declare itself a "rule of law" community, further widening the divide over illegal immigration in the central Orange County city.

Of course, not everybody is happy about a government saying it will obey the law:
Costa Mesa 'Rule of Law' decision prompts outcry

More immigrant rights' organizations are publicly condemning Costa Mesa's self-designation as a "Rule of Law City," with one group calling on residents to evacuate the city.

Here's the quote that gets me, though, and one the media keeps pushing (emphasis mine):

In a statement, Angelica Salas, executive director of the Coalition for Humane Immigrant Rights of Los Angeles, said, "The cancer of intolerance that has afflicted Arizona with the passage of SB1070 has now metastasized to the City of Costa Mesa. By declaring itself a "Rule of Law City," Costa Mesa has voted to make life a living hell for immigrants and their families."
No, you ignorant twit, it voted to deal with illegal immigrants, not legal ones.

I doubt you will find any clear-thinking American who is against immigration. After all, this nation was founded by immigrants. But to label the fight against illegal immigration as "anti immigrant" and "racist" is disingenuous and manipulative, and is the true source of the division and hatred surrounding this issue.

Thank you, truer words never spoken - or written.

As a naturalized British citizen I'm glad you have nothing against immigration :)
