Robb Comes Through

Not just with an apt analogy, but with a list of states that allow handgun carry where alcohol is served:

Alabama, Alaska, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Idaho, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Dakota, Texas, Utah, Vermont, Virginia, Washington, West Virginia, and Wyoming allow this to happen.

That's about a diverse a cross-section of this country as you can get. Of course, seeing as it's 80% of these United States, it was pretty much unavoidable.

Guns in bars isn't much of a problem in the People's Demokratik Republik of Kollyvornia, because getting a permit to carry at all in this "discretionary" state is nearly impossible.

Texas has some screwy laws, better be careful if you visit.

It is okay to carry in places that serve alcohol until that place receives 51% of its income from alcohol consumed on premise. Then it becomes illegal.

This can lead to some interesting issues. A friend went to a concert last year, half way through the show the venue announced that beer sales hit that 51% mark. The friend had to leave the show and stow this CCW in the car.

How is that for being EFFED up.

Yeah, I lived for quite a few years in Texas. Their laws are pretty vague (like that "travelling rule).

It is the responsibility of any gun owner to brush up on the laws of any state they visit.

Thanks to GCO we have regained that once forbidden right. Thanks for the post.

Rusty,

You'll be happy to know the "traveling" issue has been resolved favorably.

Part of the changes due to the Castle Doctrine laws, people can now carry in their cars any time. You can even carry concealed straight to your car from your home and vice versa.

Some prosecutors are fighting it, but the law clearly allows car carrying without "traveling".

Many other laws we need to work on, repealing the 51 Rule, the fact we don't have open carry -- seriously -- TEXAS No Open Carry??
It is a shame that the population is so slanted toward large urban cities like Dallas and Houston.

Rusty,

You can open-carry in Virginia in establishments that serve alcohol (as long as you are not consuming). Concealed Carry in VA in those same establishments is still in the works. Of course, the criminals can still carry wherever they want to...

California?? News to me since so few CCW get issued around here, but probably up in Lassen County it happens.
