Human rights campaigners say it is characterised by what they call "corrective rape" committed by men behind the guise of trying to "cure" lesbian women of their sexual orientation.What I want to know is, what do they do to "cure" the gay guys in South Africa?

Ridiculous, shaemful, brutal are some of the words that sprung to mind when I read an ActionAid interview with "corrective" rape survivors.
These men claimed to be "teaching [gay women] a lesson" by "showing [them] what a man tasted like". Because that will make them go straight!!!!
These women are brutally attacked because they are perceived as representing a direct threat to a male-dominated society.
Indeed, any time a woman steps outside her gender role, she is considered a threat.
In more civilized cultures, they encounter a glass ceiling, in other places, they are beaten, raped or murdered.
