Little blue book, little red book, what's the difference?
I think I'll make me up a little book with sayings like "Don't run with scissors." and call it "Pocket Yo Mama"

Just popped by after seeing your post over at Catherine's blog.
As a writing teacher myself and a doctoral candidate, I have to say it is refreshing that good public speaking skills are attempting a comeback with this little blue book.

Nothing's wrong with a literate, well spoken population.
As a matter of fact, if we had a more literate, well spoken population, we as a nation wouldn't get sucked in to empty promises of "hope" and "change".
We'd demand substance from our candidates.

Is it refreshing in how reminiscent is the little blue book of The Little Red Book? I think that many folks who know of what I write are truly concerned that 'the little blue book' may be much too much like the red one. That one was also chock full of literate writings, and of quotations of a head of state. It is no coincidence, I think, how it is someone on the far left whose quotations were chosen for this book and that the book was published at the commencement of what likely will be the most liberal U.S. administration within the last 70 years or so. What with all of the socialist rhetoric be spewed lately, and promises of change for the sake of change, I can already see a similarity to the Little Red Book of Chairman Mao.
Maybe you should look into some of the history of Red China and its promotion of communism by way of The Little Red Book. Then you will at least understand the concern some people may have about the little blue book. You also may realize that indeed there can be a problem with literate well spoken or written words. Hopefully though this book will just be a harmless and helpful book of quoatations with an intended use of increasing the population's literacy. My guess is otherwise since it is reportedly full of political quotes, just as was the red one.
