So, do I go up the street and pay $ 217 for a stripped Bushmaster lower, or do I go online and get a Stag for $100 less, pay the shipping, FFL and background check to save about $50 bucks all told?

Order two Stag lowers and sell one. The $60 or so profit from the second one will cover your FFL and shipping fees.

I just found a complete w/buttstock Lauer receiver (used) locally for $350. Not too bad.
Hard to add anything, but $217 for a stripped lower is insane. I paid $129 about a month ago. Yeah, I suppose prices might have inched up recently, for some reason. But still, $217?
Go with a Stag / CMT / Doublestar / Other; Nothing special about a Bushie.
As much as I'd like to support local gun shops / FFL's I can't justify throwing money away. If they're the cheapest I'll buy from them. Otherwise they're getting my $20 transfer fee and that's it.
$217 for a stripped lower is insane! And Bushy lowers don't even have the nicest finish.
$217 is just plain wrong.
Spend the $100 in gas, drive to Texas and pick one up at this weekends gun show.
