Changes in Ohio Gun Laws Take Effect Today
For example, under the new law a person carrying a concealed handgun may keep the gun concealed while driving his car. Under prior law, upon entering the car, the carrier needed to either lock up his pistol or keep it holstered but in plain sight. Also, a person carrying concealed who stays within her vehicle may drop off or pick up a child from school.Hmmm, common sense gun laws - what a concept!
Remember, verify anything related to gun laws with your local authorities. I know everything on the Internet is true, but still....

Now those are some common sense laws that make me want to move from IL to OH (since IL has NO concealed carry at all!)
Hey, that's as good a reason as any.
The news is apparently all from one single messed up source. The "plain sight in the car" thing was (mostly) fixed about a year and a half ago. (Check details if you will travel in Ohio, there are still gotchas) The current law adds some castle doctrine, defined "loaded gun" as a gun and matching loaded mag anywhere in the same car, lets armed parents drop kids off at school (as long as they stay in the car) clarifies the legality of being in a grocery store that sells alcohol...
...and removes park bathrooms (and some other "government buildings) from prohibited places. It used to be a felony to use a park bathroom while carrying concealed.
