There is so much dumbassery in this story, it's hard to keep up with (all emphasis mine).

REDWOOD CITY — A San Bruno man was sentenced to four months in San Mateo County jail Wednesday for shooting three teenagers with a BB gun during a water balloon fight.

John Reindel, 38, was also sentenced to three years' probation and ordered to pay restitution to one victim whose pellet wounds required medical attention, according to Steve Wagstaffe, chief deputy district attorney for San Mateo County.

Reindel, who pleaded no contest to felony assault charges May 12, was also ordered by San Mateo County Superior Court Judge Clifford Cretan to have no contact with the victims.

Ok, so this guy is going to jail on a felony rap for shooting teenagers with a BB gun? Dude, kick your lawyer in the nertz. You've been had.

Of course, Mr. Reindel (38 years old), can't be at the upper end of the bell curve:

Reindel was charged after an incident on Sept. 2, when he heard his 13-year-old neighbor and the neighbor's friends having a water balloon fight and came out to investigate, Wagstaffe said.

Reindel joined in the fun first, according to the boys' statements, but then unexpectedly pulled out a BB gun and began firing, striking all three boys multiple times, Wagstaffe said.

Fun times! What were you thinking?

One of the boys ran inside and called police.

Probably thinking their neighbor had lost his freakin' mind.'

Reindel stated that he was just trying to shoot the water balloons and that he had very bad aim, prosecutors said.

Aim isn't the only thing he was lacking. Yo, Reindel, grown-ups don't go around shooting thirteen year olds with anything, ok?
