I Don't Get It

Memphis Principal Accused of Outing Gay Students

This would be a Bad Thing, except for the following:

The ACLU says in September 2007, Beasley asked her staff to give her the names of students who were couples, heterosexual and homosexual, because she wanted to keep an eye on them to cut down on public displays of affection.
Ok, so the principal wanted to cut down on PDA's, I can understand that. Kids go to school to learn, not to slobber all over each other.
She's accused of publicly posting the names of those students, including two boys, Andrew and Nicholas, who had just started dating. The ACLU says that in doing so, Beasley revealed their relationship to other students, teachers and even their parents.
So, the fact that they were dating didn't reveal their relationship? Making the list of "no PDA's" didn't reveal their relationship?
One of the young men, Nicholas, an 11th grader who just made the Dean's List, spoke with Eyewitness News Everywhere.
Way to stay under the radar, Nicky boy. I bet he was the one all over the evening news last night, too. Not very concerned with his "outing", is he?

Look, the kid is gay, I get that. Big deal. His actions caught the attention of the faculty, and he made the PDA list. Again, big deal. Gay or straight, PDA's should be kept to a minimum at school. At least, that's what the principal says.

Those two guys weren't outed, they were treated the same as their straight counterparts.

You can't have it both ways.

"Kids go to school to learn, not to slobber all over each other."

May I suggest you edit this to be more correct, :Kids are sent to school to learn, but go there to slobber all over each other."
