Newspaper Wants to Publish List of Permit Holders

This time in Oregon:

Sheriff testifies he'll work to keep weapon carriers private

Jackson County Sheriff Mike Winters testified Friday in a lawsuit brought by the Mail Tribune that he will fight to keep the names of people with concealed handgun licenses private. That's despite the paper's assertion that the information is public record and was identified to permit holders as such.

"It's up to me to secure their information and records," Winters said.
Good on ya, Sheriff Winters.

Nice to see good folks doing the right thing.

I am a woman who is the proud owner of a Ruger 9. I just love that firearm.

Do I think it needs to be a matter of public record who carries concealed weapons? No. Much like the men pushing for this don't want it to be public record that they pad their underwear to make their gun look bigger.

Everything in moderation, I guess.

Good point, and probably truer than they'd like people to know.
