The Million-Dollar Luger

Well, lookee here:

Presenting the only .45 Luger Carbine:

Treatise on the .45 Caliber Luger

Most believe that the .45 Luger pistol is the most desirable semi-automatic pistol in the world. Certainly, it is the most sought after; and in its original form, would be the "crown-jewel" of any investment or collection portfolio. Originally produced for test acceptance by the U. S. Army in 1906, there is some question about how many of this unique variation were actually made

Yowsa!

I guess this goes on the "lottery list"....

I would bet that this gun is a phoney. Who would go to the expense back in those days to order a one-off 45 cal. Luger carbine? The only reason DWM built a 45 cal. in the first place was to compete in the 1907 army tests. It's hard to believe that DWM would accepted such an order since they were going all out to supply the German army with the Luger pistol that had just been adopted.

There are number of very talented guys around these days who have access to CNC machining technology. These people are perfectly capable of creating a really convincing luger from scratch.

Short of some really drop dead vintage documentation from DWM as to the authenticity of this gun, I wouldn't touch it with the proverbial ten foot pole!
