Jodie Foster, Hypocrite

First, thanks to The Gun Shots, a new blog with a great group of folks. They got me thinking of Guns and Hollywood again.

I know calling out a member of the Hollywood "elite" as a hypocrite is like calling water wet. Still, it galls me to no end to hear stuff like this.

I don't believe that any gun should be in the hand of a thinking, feeling, breathing human being.
Of course, the subject of the interview is her new movie, The Brave One, aka "Death Wish" with a female lead.

She uses guns. A lot.

Just once I'd like to see these ivory-tower dwellers put their money where their mouth is. If you want to "save the earth", get rid of the Gulfstream and fly commercial like the rest of us. Better yet, give it up altogether.

If you don't think people should have guns, then stop making millions of dollars off them. Stay true to your convictions, and make movies where the bad guys are beaten by patience and understanding.

Once upon a time I thought Ms. Foster fairly rational and well-grounded individual. Anyone who would put her movie career on hold to finish her education gets high marks in my book.

However, hearing this

Americans are by nature filled with rage-slash-fear.
leads me to believe she's as out of touch as most of the others out that way. That, or else she's filled with rage/fear, in which case she needs help.
