Zumbo Forgiven?

Via Unc comes another post by Jim Zumbo.

Like Unc said in this post:

I believe he gets it.
I do, too.

I really doubt Zumbo is a closeted (or outed for that matter) gun banner. I do think he chose his words poorly. I also think he's not "in" to EBRs or the shooting that goes along with it. He looks at things from a hunters perspective. No biggie, a whole segment of the gun owning population does.

He is, however, also involved in the business angle of things. We got his attention, we got the industries' attention. Much of our clout comes from these industires. Let's take it and do some good instead of pissing it away over sour grapes.

He *does* get it

I've been following things over at Ted Nugent's place (http://www.tednugent.com and drill over to the forums)

Zumbo does get it now. Yes, it did take a day or two for him to figure out what he'd done, but once he did he was aghast at it himself. He recently emailed Ted from a gun show he was at talking about how many people had been coming up to his booth to express their support, allowing him to explain the situation to them and get them turned from 'hunters' to 'gunnies'.

Nugent took a chance but it looks like it was a smart one. Jim Zumbo's a writer of considerable talent who's well respected in hunting circles. The initial response to his error threatened to drive the wedge between the 'disciplines' even deeper but now the situation is starting to heal the divides - and show the power of the followers of the Second Amendment. Quite a few folks who thought they knew what was going on got almost as rude a shock as Jim did.

It'll take time but the healing has begun. Zumbo's not forgiven yet (at least by me), but his apology has been accepted and he's making the amends required for forgiveness.

Enjoy!

Yup

The thing is, hardly any of us knew Zumbo of at all, let alone on a personal level. His friends knew him, and knew he wasn't like that.

I think Uncle Ted's endorsement helped me get past the RCOB moment and wait too see what happened next. Good move on his part.
