Here's a couple of gun pieces I thought I'd bring to your attention.
First, and foremost, is this little gem from Les Winkeler in Illinois:
The Grand American is an anti-gun activist's nightmare. The event, running through Aug. 18 at the newly completed World Shooting and Recreational Complex near Sparta, is the largest trapshooting event in the nation.Sounds like a place a certain Gun Guy might check out.
We need more statements like this one in the media:
Seeing all the guns in the open might make city folks a little uneasy - sometimes with good reason. However, any fears politicians had about this facility were misplaced. I can't think of a place in Southern Illinois I'd feel safer.Bravo, Les!
On the other hand, here is one for the children.
First, we have the author, being devastated, then reeling:
A year ago, I was devastated by the death of Richard Johnson, a graduate of St. Joseph's Prep who was headed to St. Joseph's University. The year before, I reeled when I learned that 10-year-old Faheem Thomas-Childs had been killed on his way to school.I'm sure many family members and friends were devastated, but I'm not so sure the author even knew the children he names in the story. I doubt it, really.
Then:
"When will it end?"followed by some Brady talking points, including "well heeled interests" keeping "reasonable attempts" at gun control from becoming reality.
Here's what I'd like to see the end of: Using the tragic deaths of children to further anti-gun bias.
Place the blame where it belongs - on the mutants committing these crimes
