Vigilante vs. Armed Robbery Victim

A lot of folks have mentioned this story, and how its headline magically changed. Note, however, the url still contains the "v" word.

So, why would a reporter (or anyone for that matter) label someone a vigilante when all they did was defend theirself? The way I see it, a portion of society thinks it's not our job to defend ourselves in such a manner. Only the cops are allowed to shoot the bad guys. If they don't show up in time, just cooperate and hope you survive the encounter.

What's really unfortunate about this line of thought is that it's usually held by people with access to mass media, be it news, music or movies. Thankfully there are more of us than there are of them, and our politicians are beginning to get it.

Thanks to everyone out there who take the time to pester their congresscritters and show up on voting day. And to those "others", I leave you with words from the immortal Frank Zappa: "Shut up and play yer guitar".
