Ridiculous, shaemful, brutal are some of the words that sprung to mind when I read an ActionAid interview with "corrective" rape survivors.
ReplyDeleteThese men claimed to be "teaching [gay women] a lesson" by "showing [them] what a man tasted like". Because that will make them go straight!!!!
These women are brutally attacked because they are perceived as representing a direct threat to a male-dominated society.
Indeed, any time a woman steps outside her gender role, she is considered a threat.
